TheWell Bioscience Introduces VitroGel® NEURON, a Synthetic Hydrogel Enhancing Neuronal Cell Culture
Designed for 2D and 3D cultures, this platform aims to offer greater consistency and scalability in neuronal research.

TheWell Bioscience has introduced VitroGel® NEURON, a synthetic and xeno-free hydrogel designed to support both 3D and 2D neuronal cell culture, as well as in vivo delivery applications. This hydrogel platform is engineered to address limitations commonly seen with animal-derived matrices, offering a defined, reproducible, and scalable environment for neuronal growth, differentiation, and network formation.
According to the company, VitroGel® NEURON enables 3D neural stem cell (NSC) differentiation into dopaminergic neurons and promotes neurite and axonal outgrowth. Unlike traditional animal-based extracellular matrices, which typically support only 2D neuron attachment, this synthetic system is formulated to facilitate robust cell–cell and cell–matrix interactions in a variety of neuronal cell types. Applications include neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease modeling, drug screening, and neurotoxicity testing.
The injectable properties of VitroGel® NEURON allow it to function as a carrier for neuron-based cell therapy, spinal cord injury repair, and other regenerative medicine applications.
